Use of the finishing profile in the façade implementation

During the implementation of the façade, it happens that the wooden elements protruding into the façade get dirty with paint during the application of the plaster. It does not look nice and therefore it is advisable to cover these elements (roof soffits, wall soffits, …) with crepe tape and finish the facade with a finishing profile with a grid. The main problem that is solved by using this profile is the prevention of cracks in these areas. Not only will the wooden element be prevented from getting dirty, but a fine joint will be created between the plaster and this element. In order to prevent the aforementioned defects, it is advisable to use a finishing profile when carrying out the detailing. We were very surprised to see the crack shown in the picture below on the construction of the shopping centre after a year of use. Unfortunately, the project executor did not take any care in the implementation of this detail, which resulted in similar cracks in many places. It costs a lot of work to repair such a detail and the final effect will be as unsightly as if the detail had been well executed. The use of a finishing profile could have effectively prevented this mistake.

Quality implementation is the basis

Require façade contractors to use this simple profile. The effect will pay off. On the one hand, you will need to buy an extra profile, but on the other hand, it will help the masons to separate the different surfaces of the materials on the façade nicely and the plaster application will be free of unnecessary mistakes. Insist, even if they want you not to buy it. You’re the homeowner, you’re the investor, so don’t get backed into a corner. Demand what you know will create the effect you want. You must not allow any cracks to be subsequently addressed by the use of silicone. The philosophy behind this method is to avoid the use of silicone because silicone is always only a temporary solution. The silicone will degrade and after two or three years you will have to use it again. Avoid these complications and require the use of the profiles mentioned in this article.
