Realisation and detail of sill finishing
For each type of façade, it is necessary to correctly and especially responsibly solve the detail of the parapet termination. This detail is particularly important because it is the place where water penetration into the lining must be prevented. The following questions should be answered first before the actual implementation:
- What type of sill will you use (drawn aluminum, plumbing fabricated) ?
- What covers do you use on the sills?
- How do you anchor the facade boards in the lining?
- Which facade grid will be used?
- What ventilation method do you choose under the sill?
- How will the venting be provided in the window translation?
The façade at the lining must be treated with parapet caps to prevent rainwater from flowing into the façade. Require them from the parapet supplier.
Anchoring the facade plate in the lining
You can do this in a number of ways, but we recommend using an F or U profile. These profiles will allow a perfect connection of the facade lining board to the window. The F profile is supplied by any good façade board dealer and of course you can also buy it in our online shop.
Method of ventilation under the sill
The façade panels can be finished with an L-shaped ventilation grille of 30×70 mm or a termination profile with ventilation holes. It is important to provide ventilation at these points so that the ventilation of the façade is functional. The opening must of course be closed to prevent insects or rodents from entering. Again, do not underestimate the implementation even with this method of finishing.
Vapour barrier connection and waterproofing
The parapet is the place where the highest risk of rainwater entering the lining, i.e. the thermal insulation, occurs. Wetting of the insulation creates thermal bridges and reduces its effectiveness. We highly recommend the use of various PVC tapes or PE or, in the best case, expansion tapes. We hope that we have given you at least a little insight into the implementation and detail of finishing the window sills. Of course, you can also find all of the above-mentioned aids and materials in our online shop.
