Attic insulation suitable when applying wool or sprayed PUR, PIR or other thermal insulation
In this article, we want to explain to you in simple terms the sequence of steps that need to be carried out for attic insulation using L and HUT profiles. The essence of this method of insulation is in the L profile PROTEKTOR, which is anchored longitudinally to the rafters from the interior. You yourself determine the fitting from the rafters, which determines the use of insulation boards. After fixing these profiles, the vapour barrier is glued on using double-sided adhesive tape. If you want to ensure a 100% seal, you can insert a butyl rubber strip into the groove in the L profile. The next step is to fix the HUT profiles, which are anchored across the rafters at 60 cm intervals. This will create a grid so that you can then anchor the plasterboards. By using L and HUT profiles, you get a stable structure that resists the movements of the timber truss. This guarantees that you will not get unwanted cracks in the plasterboard. This solution is particularly suitable for renovations where it is no longer possible to increase the thickness of the thermal insulation. This solution is also very suitable for sprayed insulation or the use of PIR panels.
