How to use window tape? How to replace window tapes? This question is asked by more than one builder, because it is a very important decision when installing windows. During the construction of the house, the quality installation of windows and doors must not be forgotten. This is where unnecessary heat losses occur. Windows must be fitted using window strips, which unfortunately many people do not use in new builds. We would therefore like to suggest how to remedy this situation or mitigate the consequences of not installing window tapes.
- Use of flexible PU-foam
There are now polyurethane foams on the market that are more flexible than the standard foams used. Thanks to their flexibility, they are better able to react to the movements of the window and thus contribute to a better airtightness in the connection between the window frame and the lining.
- Using APU rails with cuff
PROTEKTOR apu strips are the most commonly used tool to save the airtightness of the window when window strips are not installed. The moulding is adhered to the window frame with a vapour permeable tape, and also the sealing cuff covering this tape helps to prevent leaks in the lining. They do not replace window tapes, but they can contribute to making the lining well sealed.
This is guaranteed by the LWS certificate!
- Use of expansion tapes This is the most elegant and progressive solution for sealing the window frame with the lining. It completely eliminates the use of PU foam and, thanks to its expansion, ensures a reliable airtightness in the interior. Of the solutions mentioned, this is the best.
