The facade of the cottage as an imitation of wood paneling using HPL boards
In various construction projects we appreciate the use of materials that, although they are modern and may give the impression that they are only suitable for use in buildings with modern architecture, the opposite is true. Imitation of wood cladding using HPL boards creates a perfect imitation of wood and this guarantees not only the colour fastness of modern design, but above all obtaining the excellent properties of a ventilated façade and its impact on the overall economy of the building’s operation. Although I have mentioned countless advantages, there is certainly one major disadvantage and that is the higher cost of implementing such a façade and, of course, the great emphasis on the implementation of all the necessary details on the façade. It is these that determine not only the durability of the façade, but also its overall impression. If, for example, the details of the plinths are incorrectly implemented or the lining is made of incorrect profiles or the formatting of the boards is incorrect. All this will compromise the overall impression of the building. We recommend that when installing HPL panels, we emphasize and require the implementation of these details in particular:
- Sokel to be realized by means of high quality aluminium L profiles with connection to the ventilation L-grid.
- Use exterior cornices on HPL boards, mainly for structural reasons and also for protection against wind and rain.
- Lining to be implemented with the correct U-profiles, ideally also those that contain drainage grooves.
- When using HPL facade boards in the creation of eaves cornice, also ensure a reliable eaves edge, especially in the detailing of eaves cornices.
- For smaller areas, I recommend to use the anchoring of HPL boards by gluing..
