Installation of the VL7 guide rail during facade insulation

The installation of the VL7 guide rail in facade insulation is one of the more demanding details and should therefore be given due attention. This is necessary both from an aesthetic point of view and from a functional point of view. The lining must be treated so that it is perfectly sealed in the event of rain and so that water is prevented from entering the insulation area and the façade of the building. Water is a thermal bridge and can damage the façade very unpleasantly over time. I am investigating a solution to use PROTEKTOR mouldings with a cover sleeve as external apu mouldings, which are very effective.

The aforementioned details are also important because the insulation thicknesses are 150-250 mm on average and this needs to be protected as much as possible. It is also necessary to have a well-thought-out design for the anchoring of the louvre guide rail. First, the L-anchors are fitted into the perimeter masonry and then the U-profile is anchored into it. This serves as an anchoring element for the VL7 rail. At this point, the entire façade is realised, perfectly sealing all irregularities in the perimeter masonry. Only after the facade has been rendered with silicate plaster is the VL7 moulding inserted into the pre-prepared U-profiles. This ensures that the moulding is clean, looks nice and creates an interesting detail of the façade. You also need to know what kind of sills you will be using. The whole thing needs to be worked in so that it is functional.

When you are inspired by the previous lines and pictures we will be happy. You need to talk to the façade contractor about this, but also to the installer of the external blinds. This tends to be a big problem on every building site. Communication between the different professions and their subsequent coordination. Lack of communication and understanding leads to many mistakes, which are then paid for by the investor, the builder and the owner of the house. Do not forget to acquaint all the professions mentioned with this detail. This will let them know that you care and will not take it lightly. It is very difficult to then require remediation when the blinds are already fitted, scaffolding erected, insulation in progress and so on. Arrange everything in advance and you will get the desired result. Be strict with the contractor.
