Reconstruction of the roof of the tin roofing
I am not happy to publish this article, but it is necessary to publish such incorrect implementations as well, so that potential individual builders can avoid mistakes when taking over a roof from various unqualified companies. A company was involved in the reconstruction of the roof of a house in Orava, which carried out the work and got paid punitively and it is impossible to contact them when complaining about poor quality work. Let’s learn from these mistakes of others and in the next lines I will describe the fundamental fatal mistakes from the implementation of metal roofing.
What was the covering used?
The roof was fitted with Nailstrip type metal roofing, which is realised by Schlebach or NTC machines. In our country they are known as CLIP or RETRO. The advantage of this system is the ease of installation without the need for large profiling machines. The disadvantage is very easy poor realization of details at chimneys, skylights or at the occurrence of counter skylights. All of these have to be mastered by the executors. Unfortunately the photos below show what is incorrect and what you really need to watch out for.
- incorrectly implemented transition from the roof to the pitched roof on the dormer
- the chimney cladding was implemented without the necessary cladding and any safety tapes
- the connection of the skylight to the cover was anchored with farmer’s screws
- roof ridge also anchored with farmer’s screws, which was damaged
