In normal practice, savings are made everywhere when insulating. Many people choose not to use external APU strips and save money. At first glance this is true, but often after the facade has been completed, unwanted cracks appear in the lining of the windows. Covering the cracks with transparent silicone does not solve the problem. The solution is to use APU moulding with a covering sleeve and mesh No. 37 906 when insulating. This will cover any cracks very nicely and spectacularly and will also prevent water from leaking into the lining in heavy rain.
Improperly implemented lining:
Lining using APU moulding with cuff and grille:
The use of this strip is essential when insulating with mineral wool. Here there is a risk that over time rainwater will get into the lining due to weathering and thus dampen the insulation. A thermal bridge is then created.
