In the picture below you can see very nicely how an unwanted crack is created around the perimeter of an aluminium window. With all aluminium window linings, the thermal expansion of the aluminium must be taken into account. In the picture below, a tooth is visible, which was formed about two years after the building was approved. It is an annoying crack which led to a complaint to the contractor. It is very difficult to resolve as the designer and also the contractor did not take this into account prior to implementation. Therefore, in these cases we recommend two simple solutions
- Use of APU rails with cover cuff and grille No. 37906
- Application of the termination profile and joint cementing with PU-sealant
