Use of external corner profiles
We would like to emphasize the need to use external corner profiles when implementing ventilated facades or just facade cladding. The façade fulfils a visual function and therefore great emphasis should be placed on the implementation of all necessary details. It is precisely in the implementation of cement-bonded particleboard facade panels that care must be taken of all the necessary details such as:
- outer corners
- ventilation in the plinth area
- connecting the window to the facade and creating a lining
- airing of attics and individual lintels
- anchoring of facade panels
- choose a suitable grid of boards
The external corners are important in any façade and are demanding in terms of execution and especially accuracy.
Anyone who neglects the use of this profile must place great emphasis on the careful sawing of the facade boards and their subsequent reliable fixing to the facade. On one building site, I realised that the contractors were taking our arguments to heart and trying to cover these external corners with something. Unfortunately not with PROTEKTOR profiles, but with profiles that they make themselves in the workshop. In the picture below you can see the intention to cover the outer corner with mouldings that were made from stainless steel profile. Everyone knows that bending stainless steel is challenging, to do it accurately even more challenging. The profile is fixed to the underlying grid, but it does not cover the entire cross section of the fascia board. The result of this effort can be seen in the photos below. The optimum solution is to use an outer corner made of fabricated aluminium.
Another problem is the non-use of spar profiles. When not used, there is a risk that the grid of the façade panels will not be followed by the installers. This can be seen in the photo below.
When using spar profile No. 9042, it is advisable to install corner profiles No. 9440 on the corners of the building.
