A very good choice for the insulation of the building is the use of mineral wool facade boards. When making this choice, it is necessary to consider how the lining will be implemented. By using conventional apu mouldings, there is a risk that they will peel away from the window frame in the future and that moisture will get into the lining when the rain comes. As the mineral wool gets wet very quickly, this will create a thermal bridge in the lining. This is most tricky with large aluminium windows and balcony doors. This is due to the higher thermal expansion of these windows than with wooden or plastic windows.
This problem is easily solved by using the PROTEKTOR apu mouldings with a cover cuff.
