It is natural that everyone wants to save money when building or renovating a roof. In this case, the choice of ventilation grilles also comes into play. Many roofers have experienced that ventilation grilles will damage rodents and thus invade the roof space. And this is also the main argument to use aluminium ventilation grilles on the roof. These are manufactured in natural aluminium, but also in a double-sided colour version in red-black and brown-white combinations. The advantage is the square perforation, which ensures sufficient ventilation of the roof, and thanks to the narrow holes , pests and insects are prevented from entering the roof space. According to DIN 4308 part 3 (German roofing standard) for a roof length of 10m, the ventilation must not be less than 200 cm2/bm. In our conditions this means that the height of the contralate should be at least 6 cm. It is common to use a 5 cm height, but this is not such a big mistake.

It is also possible to make L – PROFILE from aluminium grids. This will ensure that the grid is stable along its entire length and will not wave. This has a particular aesthetic advantage. However, if you build it into the roof as shown in the picture below, you increase the ventilation opening, you get a larger ventilation area of the ventilated space. This is especially appreciated in summer when the roof needs to be ventilated even more.
