During my wanderings for customers I discovered an interesting little wooden house by the main road in a village in the north of Slovakia. The shape of the roof follows the shape of the half-hipped roofs that were built in this area in the early twentieth century. For me, it is also an interesting inspiration and I will be happy if more buildings like this are built, because it is this legacy of our ‘wooden grandfathers’ that should be preserved in the architecture of the village. It is certainly not a cheap thing to build such a house, and finding a carpenter who has spare capacity and the desire to embark on something similar will not be many of those either. Only enthusiasm and passion for this type of construction can be the “fuel” to realize something like this. In the attached gallery there are some time-lapse photos I took when I was passing by this little wooden house. It grew slowly and is still unfinished today. You can judge for yourself by the attached photos.

If you couldn’t get hold of a team that does this kind of work, you can at least prepare yourself by buying traditional carpentry tools, study some interesting publications and I believe you’ll be able to complete the construction. Here are some tips of the mentioned tools.
Our tip for traditional carpentry tools
Traditional tools are a prerequisite for the realization of any atypical construction. In the age of CNC technology, it is all the more valuable to have such tools and to know how to work with them. Can you find such carpentry tools in your workshop at home?
