Church roofs are a very specific area of plumbing. These roofs and buildings are usually a landmark and are not only a challenge for every plumber, but they are also the pride of a village or a district of a city. The combination of craftsmanship and the will to preserve the original shape of the roof and the individual details, is nowadays to be followed and respected. Industrial construction and the pressure to build quickly are thus displacing this type of building and, ultimately, contributing to the demise of traditional crafts. And it is precisely on these buildings that craft can be given back its space. In most cases, the roofs are reconstructed according to the financial possibilities of the community and the roofing material is chosen accordingly. Regardless of the type of material, such as steel sheet, copper, aluminium or titanium zinc, it will be beneficial if such buildings are reconstructed by plumbers and roofers with considerable experience and proven references. Many procedures are no longer even used by current plumbers as they are not standard, current roofing practices. In particular, practices that are no longer used today include:
- beating and forming of sheet metal,
- sheet metal soldering,
- formation of spouts in the drainage system,
- traditional cladding and protection of the cornice of the building.
