Thermal insulation protection without thermal bridges

Protecting the thermal insulation and insulating the building is essential to obtain an energy certificate and save costs for thermal leakage. The façade is the calling card of any family home and therefore it is essential to spend a lot of time sorting out all the details. If these details are neglected, there is a risk of weather damage to the façade in the future. When the thermal insulation on a building is 200 mm thick or more, its planning is all the more important. All insulation starts with a foundation batten that separates the Styrodur from the polystyrene. This batten has the task of separating these different thermal insulation materials and also protecting them from the weather. The use of aluminium moulding creates a thermal bridge that many designers do not like and that is why they are looking for alternative solutions. The worst solution is not to use any underlay, as the absence of it can lead to various defects in the façade over time due to the progression of rainwater.

PVC foundation strip

Our solution is to use a PVC backing strip, which is simply tucked in between the styrodur and polystyrene. This creates an eave nose that also serves as a guide when applying the individual layers of the facade. Thermal insulation protection is applied if this method is used.
